How to Play OA3Dle: Modes, Scoring, and Streaks
Learn how Endless, Hard, and Daily modes work, how every round is scored, and how to build a higher OA3Dle score.
OA3Dle is a character popularity guessing game. Each card shows a character and the popularity count stored in the current data snapshot. Your job is to choose the character with the highest count.
The basic decision is simple, but a strong run rewards more than accuracy. Difficulty, decision speed, consecutive correct answers, and close matchups all contribute to your score.
The basic rule
In Endless and Daily modes, each round presents two characters. One popularity count is visible and the other stays hidden until you answer. In Hard mode, three characters appear and every count is hidden.
Select the character you believe has the highest popularity count. After your choice:
- All hidden counts are revealed.
- A correct answer earns points and increases your streak.
- An incorrect answer earns no points and resets your streak.
- In Endless and Hard modes, an incorrect answer also ends the run.
How each round is scored
A correct answer begins with 100 base points. Four parts determine the final round score:
Round score = difficulty score + speed bonus + streak bonus + close-call bonus
Difficulty score
Difficulty is based on the winning character's popularity count. The ranges do not overlap:
| Difficulty | Winning count | Multiplier | Difficulty score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 20,000 or more | 1× | 100 |
| Medium | 5,000–19,999 | 1.5× | 150 |
| Hard | Below 5,000 | 2.5× | 250 |
Popular characters are easier to recognize, while niche characters demand more knowledge. The larger multiplier compensates for that uncertainty.
Speed bonus
You can earn up to 50 extra points for a quick answer. The bonus decreases evenly over the first 10 seconds:
- Immediate answer: approximately +50
- Five seconds: approximately +25
- Ten seconds or longer: +0
The timer begins when the round is ready to play, so page loading time does not reduce your bonus.
Streak bonus
Consecutive correct answers build a streak bonus:
- First correct answer: +0
- Second correct answer: +10
- Third correct answer: +20
- Each additional level: +10
- Maximum streak bonus: +100
One incorrect answer resets the streak. In Daily mode the challenge continues, but the next correct answer starts a new streak.
Close-call bonus
A matchup is harder when the two highest popularity counts are close. The close-call bonus ranges from 0 to 50 points and is calculated from the runner-up count as a proportion of the winning count.
For example, if the winner has 10,000 and the runner-up has 9,000, the matchup earns 45 close-call points. A large gap produces a smaller bonus.
Scoring example
Suppose you answer a Medium round in two seconds, it is your fourth consecutive correct answer, and the top two counts are 10,000 and 9,000:
Difficulty score: 150
Speed bonus: 40
Streak bonus: 30
Close-call bonus: 45
Total: 265 points
The result panel shows this breakdown after every correct answer.
Endless mode
Endless mode is the main two-card challenge. One count is visible, and the run continues until the first incorrect answer.
The character pool becomes harder as the run progresses:
- Rounds 1–5 use popular characters from the Easy tier.
- Rounds 6–10 use Medium-tier characters.
- Round 11 onward uses niche characters from the Hard tier.
Your leaderboard result is the total number of points earned before the run ends. This means a long streak matters, but quick decisions and close matchups can separate two runs with the same number of correct answers.
Hard mode
Hard mode starts at maximum difficulty:
- Three characters appear instead of two.
- All popularity counts remain hidden until you answer.
- Every character comes from the niche Hard tier.
- Correct answers receive the 2.5× difficulty score.
- One incorrect answer ends the run.
Hard mode has its own leaderboard because its information and risk are different from Endless mode.
Daily challenge
The Daily challenge gives every player the same 10 matchups for the current UTC date. The sequence progresses through three difficulty stages:
- Rounds 1–3: Easy
- Rounds 4–7: Medium
- Rounds 8–10: Hard
An incorrect answer does not end the Daily challenge. You complete all 10 rounds, then receive both an accuracy result and a total point score. The share result includes your correct-answer count, points, and answer grid.
Tips for a stronger score
Use the visible number as evidence, not a guarantee. Consider the franchise, whether the character is central or secondary, how long the fandom has been active, and whether a name may combine multiple sources.
Do not sacrifice every careful decision for the speed bonus. A wrong answer is much more expensive than losing a few speed points, especially after building a streak. The best runs balance recognition, comparison, and confidence.
The data page explains when the popularity snapshot was produced. Scores remain comparable because every player uses the same versioned snapshot until the next published update.
